signing up as a volunteer for no matter which charity organisation...
to me, is a honorable thing to do...
cos it means scarifying your precious free time with your love ones and bla bla bla...
i was standing outside raffles city, waiting for sherlene to come fetch me to ecp...
in front of me was a brunch of active volunteers, doing their part for the
Be A Blood Donor...
i can feel their passion in the "job" that they being assigned to...
they are going out pamphlets, tissues and balloons...
when they out-stretch their hands with a piece of pamphlet and a pack of tissue like 0.3-0.5m before the approaching public...
the good! *clap clap*
- some of them will smile if shake their head to indicate "i don't want"... *reasonable! if you dun think you want to know anything about what they are doing and you don't need a tissue either... that's good! don't waste their material*
- some of them will out-stretch their hand too and received them from the volunteer followed by a "thank you/thanks" *whether is it spoken or mouthed*... take and read it while walking...*GOOD!*
i really cant stand the following!
- ignoring the volunteer, with the "what the f**k! get your f**king arm out of my way!" face...
- avoiding the friendly, out-stretch hand like as it is covered with SARS or AIDS disease or something
hey com'on! these people are choosing to make use of their free, leisure time to serve the community... show your support and appreciation la! stop avoiding them like weirdos!
that day was a windy day too... they have a lot of red balloons for the children *but if you are of the age of more than 12 and you request for 1, they will still give 1 to you*... those balloons are tied onto a plastic stick and into a big bundle... before the volunteer *who is in-charge of the balloons* knew it, a bundle of balloons are being blown 10 meters away... people walking against the direction of the balloons will take a look at the balloons and, what!, either they looked away or they just looked at the balloons and see where the balloons are going...
finally i realised no one here the balloons are helping to hold on to it... i ran like 5m out *which is not in my path at all* to fetch the balloons... of cos i am not trying to say that i did a wonderful thing or what... but to me is it "what the hell! cant you just bend a little and at least hold on to the bundle of balloons and prevent them from being blown further???" haiz... really disappointed in some human...
